We are SO excited to be offering our arts-based after-school program in the heart of Downtown Boulder. We've been running an iteration of this program in NYC since the very beginning of Scribble almost 15 years ago! Here's some information about that program. Our goal with the after-school clubhouse has always been to create a safe, welcoming, and creative space for young artists to spend their time outside of school. With our small class size, this group very quickly becomes a familial and supportive community of artists exploring new materials and methods together.
At our Boulder location, each afternoon, we'll pick up students from Whittier Elementary and walk them to the studio. Then, we'll enjoy a healthy snack and open play (we take every opportunity to be outside during this time so we'll either be at the park or by the creek right next to our space, if weather permits). At 4:00pm, we'll settle back into the studio for an art class (the schedule of classes is listed below). Engaging in one medium throughout an entire year offers our young artists an incredible opportunity to build upon skills and deeply explore artistic possibilities. Part of our programming includes a holiday market in December, film festival in March and an art show in May, all produced by and featuring the work of our students. All proceeds sponsor scholarships at our studio.

CLASS SCHEDULE
MONDAYS: Sculpture Club
Sculpture taps into young artists’ innate interest in building while exploring the elements of form, space, texture, and color. Through the design and construction of 3-dimensional artwork, artists will develop problem-solving skills and an ability to respond to the materials in front of them.
TUESDAYS: Filmmaking
In this class, artists will learn the fundamentals of creating their own films including understanding the basics of photography and film equipment, developing content, exploring tools for post-production, and finally sharing their films with their peers and the larger community. Throughout the year, we'll experiment with creating commercials, documentaries, and short narratives.
WEDNESDAYS: Graphic Novels
In this class, artists create their own original graphic novels from start to finish: from character design and storyboarding, to drawing and inking their panels, to adding color and binding their pages into working books!
THURSDAYS: Printing Press
This class explores the elements of color, line, and texture through traditional and nontraditional printing methods. Printmaking is an amazing way for artists to explore layering, color theory, and how to utilize having multiples of one piece of artwork. We'll also be utilizing our fully operational silk screening equipment in the studio including designing and making our own screens and using those to print our own apparel, posters and fine art.
FRIDAYS: Painting Studio
This class explores the elements of color, line, and shape through abstract and representational painting. Artists will develop technical skills for various types of drawing and painting tools, and learn to balance careful decision-making with allowing artistic inspiration to flow.
