CLASS SCHEDULE

MONDAYS: Painting

• This class explores the elements of color, line, and shape through abstract and representational painting. Artists will develop technical skills for various types of drawing and painting tools, and learn to balance careful decision-making with allowing artistic inspiration to flow.

TUESDAYS: Sculpture

• Sculpture taps into young artists’ innate interest in building while exploring the elements of form, space, texture, and color. Through the design and construction of 3-dimensional artwork, artists will develop problem-solving skills and an ability to respond to the materials in front of them.

WEDNESDAYS: Journalism

• This year, we're piloting a brand new project that will be student-driven, arts-based, and oh, so, much, fun: A SCRIBBLE STUDIO NEWSPAPER. This class will drive the direction of this project through exploration of video, photo, and artistic documentation. They'll practice the art of writing, interviewing, and combining all these elements into a legible and creative monthly paper for the Inwood studio location.

THURSDAYS: Game + Toy Design

• This class will touch upon all art forms, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. We'll create our own illustrated board games with sculpted pawns, a printed deck of cards, design our own painted Pokémon or game card decks, and finally, build a sculptural chess set and a set of wind-up toys. We'll also explore comics and graphic novels!

FRIDAYS: Fiber Arts

• This class will focus on exploring fabric and fibers as our materials. We’ll be “drawing” with embroidery thread, “painting” with yarn, and “collaging” with fabric. We’ll explore sewing and weaving to create textured, detailed, and colorful pieces of artwork in both 2-D and 3-D formats.
